What is an Interior?

An interior design is a creative or artistic feature which can be decorated or designed from inside. The interior is the result of entrance, into a particular structure, or it is something that has inner space. It can also be directly from outside or simply from a corridor or elevator entrance hall.   An entrance is the transition point, an entrant that brings about the interior memories. Numerous architectures have been illustrated, and they reveal exclusive interior photographs and splendid building that have internal entrances or interiors. For instance, many modern buildings such as commercial buildings, homesteads, museum and many others have impressive interior that were designed by architectures.

The interior designer may use a particular interior design in order to widen technical skills to the exact area of architecture.  For instance, many residential and commercial designs encompass a variety of sub specialties or interior designs. The interior professional designers constantly develop skills and understand the way environment influences people.  Therefore, they develop designs that fit specific individual environments in order to meet the needs or wants of individual that are paramount to the interior design. The designer of the interior projects may work from the initial planning phase or remodel an already existing structure.   Abercrombie argues asserts that “designing from the outside in and inside out creates necessary tensions” that help make architecture. This process takes a lot of time in designing impressive visual artifacts that are appealing to the client.

When designing the interior design, the designer always creates an entrance, which has a space. The space is a transitional point that brings the interior memories, and it is a place of  psychological significance. The space of the design is created, and this is where the meetings of the interior and exterior forces of use and space of the design occur. It is an extension of the design and an enclosure to the outside design; thus the attraction or fascination of stare into the outside light that invades the entrance. Under the phenomenology discipline, which is the study of structures, one can be able to determine the way interior structures vary from one environment to another. Most of the current architectures have made significant efforts of designing modern interior designs, but some of them still take the shape of the historical designs. Even though, many of the historical architectures have been illustrated exclusively with photographs of exterior structures, great designs of the past have for a long time lacked great interiors.

The major precedent theory in the book “a philosophy of interior design” is the interior design theory. The interior design theory is one of the theories that reveal the physical attributes of structures from inside. The attributes of the structures can be viewed in various ways such as the value and shades of color in creating a tint or reduce saturation. There are diverse ways of developing or creating unique internal structures; thus many designers manipulate shapes of images and texts to connect together. For instance, the Hong Kong Tenements Go Green project indicated in figure 2 below is a good example of an exterior design structure. The interior parts of the buildings or structures differ from the exterior and many designers tend to design structures for personal ambition rather than meeting the objectives and needs of the clients.

The other theory is philosophical theory and this is cleared indicated on the way designer design structures that are psychological significance. For instance, the philosophical aspects are manifested when one moves through the interior building such as the historical buildings or different organizational structure. Moreover, one of the precedent cases that can be related to the reading is that of the Hong Kong Tenements Go Green project. This project was constructed by the Chinese designed tenement and the above diagram reveals the section of the interior project. Thus, entering an enclosure of the above project has psychological significance and purpose of its construction to the Hong Kong people.
